Apple Picking + Fall Cocktail Recipe

One of my favorite things we did as a family last year was go apple picking in the fall. The kids had a blast, the adults had a blast, and I vowed to go again every year. This year we went to Jackson’s Orchard and Nursery. It was not only stunning, but so fun and family friendly.

There was an abundance of activities to do there. We spent 2 hours there due to social obligations we had to get back to, but we could have spent much longer there. First thing we noticed was the pumpkin patch they had set up. There were so many different kinds: classic big orange, green and orange “ugly”, medium orange and white, gourds, and the cute little miniature pumpkins. They were also at a great price point, the largest being only $10.

There was also a big red barn with all sorts of things to buy. We got lunch at the attached concession stand. We had delicious bbq sandwiches, apple chips with caramel sauce, and apple pie. We also made sure to grab a gallon of apple cider before we left.

There were so many activities for kids. A few I remember were face painting, bouncy castle, a large impressive playground, giant slides, and pony rides. To get to the apples, you took a hay ride pulled by a tractor. The apples we picked were red delicious and fuji. This was of course our favorite part. The trees were still full of apples, unlike some of the other orchards who ran out mid September.

We will for sure make a trip back there next fall! I think it will be a family tradition for us.

Since we always make sure we get a gallon of apple cider every fall, and this year I decided to make a little cocktail with it. Below are the ingredients for an adult apple cider:

-Whiskey
-Apple cider
-Honey
-Lemon
