What To Include On Your Wedding Registry

When Jay and I were engaged, we weren’t living together. I was still in college, so I didn’t really have anything that normal people have in their houses. My roommates and I had a few plates and cups. We maybe had one pot and one skillet? I think we had 4 forks. At the time, Jay was living in his grandparents fully furnished condo, so he didn’t have anything of his own either, as far as household items go.

I think it is such a fun idea to go out with your fiancé and do your registry together in the stores, however when I was pregnant, trying to wrap up college, and planning a wedding in 4 months, it just made way more sense to do ours online. Luckily Jay didn’t oppose. We basically had to start from scratch with our registry, since we literally didn’t have anything.

If you’re living in the real world, you might be a step ahead. You probably have pots and pans and all that good stuff. Your registry is the time to register for the big ticket items that multiple people can come together to buy, so that you don’t have to all on your own. Read on for my guide on what to have on your wedding registry. Everything linked is stuff that we personally registered for.

  1. China

I don’t know why, but I feel like NO ONE registers for china anymore! If y’all don’t register for it now, you will never ever buy it, I promise. It’s expensive, so you need to have multiple people go in on it, which is why a wedding is the perfect time to get it. I LOVE our china, and while I have yet to use it, I know I will one day on holidays, for dinner parties, or at the very least to display it in a beautiful cabinet. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/wedgwood-reg-hibiscus-5-piece-place-setting/1045675928?skuId=45675928&&mrkgcl=609&mrkgadid=3252627297&rkg_id=0&enginename=google&mcid=PS_googlepla_nonbrand_flatware_local&product_id=45675928&adtype=pla&product_channel=local&adpos=1o2&creative=231592352351&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIju-0pZmR4QIVIbazCh17MQL5EAQYAiABEgJt6PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

2. Crystal

This is another one that no one registers for, and I’m not sure why. Like I said above, this is your time to get items that multiple people can go in on, that you probably won’t be able to buy all on your own anytime soon. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/godinger-dublin-reserve-wine-glasses-set-of-4/1042850106?keyword=crystal-wine-glasses

3. Knives

Cooking with dull knives is the WORST, which is why you’re going to want a really good set of knives. You want ones that will last a while. They are worth a little splurge. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/calphalon-reg-contemporary-self-sharpening-18-piece-cutlery-set-with-sharpin-trade-technology/1044109257?keyword=knives

4. Crockpot

I use my crockpot at least once a week. It is a lifesaver during a busy day. You’re going to need to get one. They even have ones these days that connect to an app on your phone, so you can throw everything in it in the morning, and then turn it on via your phone! https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/crock-pot-reg-8-qt-programmable-slow-cooker-in-black-stainless/1062601207?keyword=bluetooth-crockpot

5. Silverware

When I was in college, I think my silverware was from T.J. Maxx. This is the time to step it up a notch. The idea is that you’ll have this stuff forever.  https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/towle-reg-emmaleigh-44-piece-flatware-set/5259881?keyword=silverware-set

6. Everyday Dishes

Unlike the fine china dishes, these are the dishes that you use everyday. While you might not want to pick something with a pattern (or maybe you do! Do you!), you can still get a little funky with it. 7. Pots and Pans

Maybe you’ve been living on your own for a while now, and you have pots and pans already. In that case, great! You might not need anymore. Or you might just need a few, in which case you can just register for specific ones you might need. As previously stated, Jay and I had nothing, so we registered for a whole set. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/calphalon-reg-signature-trade-nonstick-cookware-collection/219699?keyword=pots-and-pan-sets

Most registries have an option to “star” your most wanted gifts, so that hopefully people will buy those first. Now that you have registered for all of the above, go ahead and “star” them. After you have done that, you may now go crazy and register for random gravy boats, salt and pepper shakers, and whatever else you would love to have, but could also buy yourself.
