5 Items Worth Splurging On

You guys know that I love a bargain as much as anyone. You will never see me spending more that maybe $60 on a dress. Even my rehearsal dinner dress was $20.

I love second hand shopping, thrifting, poshmark-ing, ebay-ing, etc. I just don’t see the point in spending a ton of money on a clothing item, unless you are going to wear it 100+ times. I don’t even spend a ton of money on sunglasses (I once had a pair of $400 Chanel sunglasses that lasted 3 years before I drunkenly lost them at a football game my senior year of college).

That being said, there are some things that are just simply worth the money. These things are items that you will wear over and over and over again. Things like:

Jewelry

You don’t want to skimp on jewelry. I’m not talking about trendy, fashion jewelry here. I’m talking about timeless, traditional pieces that will withstand the test of time. You want good quality that won’t tarnish, so that you can wear it forever and even pass it on. Jewelry is great, because as long as you have a safe place for it, it’s hard to lose. Once you’re wearing it, you probably won’t just randomly take it off while you’re out and about. It stays on your body. Here are some of my favorite jewelry items.

David Yurman

In my opinion, David Yurman is a no brainer. My grandmother wore it, my mom wore it, and now my sister and I wear it.

Petite Diamond Necklace

My parents got one for me when I turned 21, and I wear it everyday. It goes with everything from a v-neck and leggings to a wedding dress.

Shoes

Shoes can really go either way. I have some shoes that I’ve gotten at Target, and I have others that are on the more expensive side. I will say that a lot of the time, you get what you pay for with shoes as far as quality and comfort go. Here are some shoes worth splurging on.

Golden Goose

Apart from being super popular, they come looking a bit worn, so you can wear them over and over again and they’ll stay looking exactly how they are supposed to.

Badgley Mischka

If you like the Manolo look, you will love these. They are still pricey, but nowhere near the $950 Manolo price tag.

Coat

Again, you can get a great coat for a low price, but it might not last you years and years of winters to come. I usually buy a new coat at the beginning of each winter, but my tried and true coats and jackets are always the ones I pull from most often.

Barbour

I don’t care how many years go by, I will never stop reaching for my barbour. To me, it’s a classic.

Burberry

A good trench coat never goes out of style, and Burberry makes a great one.

Watch

A watch is like jewelry in that it stays on your body, so it’s hard to lose. You can also wear it forever and ever, and pass it down. I already told my dad that I want him to pass down his watch that my mom gave to him on their wedding to me. Jay still wears one that was originally his great grandfather’s.

Apple Watch

If you’re a digital watch person, this is for you. While you might not be passing it down to your great grandchildren, but it is a great investment, especially if you are like me and have your hands full all the time (meaning you don’t always have your phone within reach).

Michele

The watch that I wear when I’m not wearing my apple watch is my Michele watch. If you are looking for a great watch at a reasonable price point, this is it.

Purse

Jay has already informed me that no matter how much money we ever have, he will never be able to justify buying me a Birkin bag sheds tear. However, I still believe a nice (timeless) handbag is something worth investing in, because they are made better than less expensive handbags AND you will get your money’s worth if you wear it over and over again.

Chanel

In my opinion, a bag doesn’t existed that is more classic than a quilted chanel bag. While it is more expensive than some of it’s luxury brand counterparts, it is not a bag that you will ever sell or give away (unless you’re crazy).

Louis Vuitton

If you don’t want to pull the trigger one a quilted chanel bag, Louis Vuitton makes bags in a more affordable price range. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to style and patterns, but to me, you can never go wrong with the classic brown monogram.
