Pizza Dough Recipe

Ever since Jay and I first got married, I would attempt to make pizza dough every 1-2 months, trying to perfect the recipe. I was so into perfecting the homemade pizza, that Jay even bought me a pizza stone and pizza peel. After much trial and error, I have finally perfected it, and I’m sharing it with you!

Cook Time: 1.5-2 hours

Makes: One pizza

Ingredients:
2 and 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
1 tbsp olive oil
1.5 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
3 (ish) cups flour
Cornmeal

Directions:
Put yeast in 1/4 cups of hot water and let sit for 5 minutes.
Add oil, salt, sugar, and one cup of cold water to yeast mixture and transfer to large bowl.
Using a hand mixer, slowly add flour one cup at a time ad mix on medium low until the mixture no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl.
Knead with hands for an additional minute and then form into the shape of a ball.
Place in a large opaque bowl and cover with tinfoil.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees (if you have a pizza stone, place stone in oven while it is preheating).
Set opaque bowl on stove top while stove is preheating and let sit there for AT LEAST 30 minutes.
While oven is heating and dough is rising, prepare all of the toppings and sauce you are using for your pizza.
On a lightly floured baking sheet, roll pizza dough.
Dust with cornmeal.
Assemble sauce and toppings.
If using pizza stone, slide pizza onto stone. If not, stick pizza in oven on the baking sheet.
Bake for 12 minutes
If using a pizza stone, slide pizza onto cutting board and stick stone back in oven (turned off) while the oven slowly cools down.
Enjoy!
